Clam Chowder

2 cans clams, drained (discard liquid)
1 med onion, chopped
1 c. celery, diced
1 c. carrots, diced
2 c. potatoes, diced
3/4 c. margarine
3/4 c. flour
½ t. sugar
1 qr. top milk
salt and pepper to taste
Drain clams and pour over vegetables.
Add enough water to cover.
Simmer. Add salt, pepper and sugar.
Melt butter, add flour and blend together.
Cook a couple of minutes.
Add milk and cook til smooth and thick add sauce to vegetables.
